In response to my post made yester-year concerning
buying a refurbished ipod it turned out just great. It came in the mail, works great and I would totally recommend the experience. These ipods are cheaper, maybe a generation late but they work perfectly!

Both my ipods are refurbs (one's a metallic blue mini and the other's a 32GB Touch) and they both work just fine. Get hip to the refurb, gang!
